Pastured Eggs

The eggs that we currently carry are from pastured chickens. "Cage Free" and "Free Roaming" are misnomers at best.*

The chickens are raised as they had been before the onset of chemical intervention. The hens go about in a natural setting and eat as they please (greenery, bugs); they receive supplemental feed that is not treated with chemical pesticides, and is free of GMOs, hormones, and antibiotics. These are happy, well-cared-for chickens, and you can taste it in the eggs.

To meet this requirement, however, many 'certified organic' and 'free-range' birds are crowded into sheds with open siding or with a few enclosed porches, which may be closed off for several months during the year. The birds may never actually set foot outside, and the organic and free-range standards do not outline any other animal welfare criteria, such as the amount of space individual birds must have."
