Start by getting out the "X Tapes" 3-ring binder from next to the radio. Find an empty column and write your name, date, and time.
1 >
clerk >
#/NS. The drawer will spring open.
Count each of the types of currency (look under the register tray for large bills, loose checks and cash in envelopes) and enter them into the appropriate section in the binder.
Add up your columns and fill in the totals.
1 >
clerk >Turn silver register key to "X" position
1 >
subtotal - this prints a report of sales by dept. (aka PLU)
3 >
subtotal - this prints a report of sales by customer category.
Wait for the register tape to complete printing (it pauses for a bit at one point, be patient). Turn the key back to "reg"
Carefully fold the register tape so that it can be stapled over your column in the binder better than all the rest. You don't want to be the person who staples it such that it hangs out the bottom, gets ripped, etc. Note that you do not need to worry about what was printed out on the register tapes. You are just doing a count of what is in the drawer, you are not worrying about reconciling any of the numbers.
Comments
(This order actually makes more sense. Why print the tape before you need it? I just need to make sure that it's necessary to enter 1> clerk again after hitting NS --EJ 6/2/10)
Sorta agree. but it doesn't include the last NS, yeah? The instructions I made for the cover of the binder are different too..
