Managing 4-list emails using filters & labels (Gmail)
The 4-list has become a very important tool for communication within the Co-op, but it can be overwhelming. By filtering your messages, and labeling them, you can stay subscribed but keep them out of the way of your personal email.
If you want to be able to read & post to the list, but want the bare minimal of clutter, create this filter.

Click the teeny-tiny little "Create a filter" button.

Cut & paste this text into the "Has the words" box:
list:"4.lists.4thStreetFoodCoop.org"
Click "Next Step >>"

Skip the inbox if you want to keep them out of sight.
Apply a label to keep them more organized.
The 2 options together will give you a label, with a number next to it showing how many new messages there are, while not cluttering your inbox.
Click "Create Filter". If you check the "Also apply..." box, it will label matching messages that are already in your mailbox.

If you already use labels, you can choose one of your own. If you don't, you can create a new one from the "Apply the label:" drop down menu.

Labels are organized in a list to the left of your messages. If you've just created a label, but it doesn't show up in the list, you may need to click the more section, and drag your new label into the top section.
