You will need:
+
+ 2 scoops + about 20 minutes (quiet shift), + a friend.
Spin the handle to raise the center disk all the way up & out of the steel cylinder.
Knock the cylinder backwards to release it from the upper pegs.
You might have to pull the coffee grinder forward to make enough space for the cylinder to
clear the lower pegs (see below)
Push the cylinder forward to clear the lower pegs.
Lift and remove the cylinder from the green frame.
There's usually a decent amount of honey left in the very bottom of the cylinder.
Use a spoon or knife to scrape it out, and consider it a prize.
I like to fill the cylinder with hot water first, to soften the honey up.
Then open the front and wash the whole thing out.
The yellow gate usually needs some light scrubbing; it gets sticky and then becomes grimy.
Unscrew the center disc and toss it into a container of
very hot water.
This is more fussy than it looks. You'll have to work around the edge of the pail,
while using your hands to maintain upward pressure on the lid.
You can do this alone, but it's very hard. The full canister is quite heavy.
The second person can use a small scoop to help pull the honey out of the big scoop.
This can get messy.. be careful, and don't wear your priceless silk tunic.
Honey on the lip will get really hard and gross. It's easier to wipe it off now.
Take the center disc out of the hot-tub, put the scoops in.
Rinse off the honey that's gooey from its bath.
Give the screw in the center of the disc a wipe with a bit of paper towel to prevent rust.
Screw it back onto the center column.
Tip the canister top-first through the green frame.
The honey won't move fast, but it
will run over the back edge if you take too long.
So either do this step quickly, or don't fill the canister to the brim.
Seat the canister on the lower pegs.

Push the honey down so that it's ready to go.
Wipe its nose!
